The "International Center For Study of Phenomenon of Solidarność" (abbreviation: MCBFS) was established in 2018 as a unit operating at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow by the Senate of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow in agreement with NSZZ "Solidarność", the body representing the National Commission of NSZZ "Solidarność", made on the basis of an agreement on scientific cooperation between these entities, which are its founding members.

Our goals are:

1. Creating a spiritual and intellectual background for the initiatives undertaken by the KK NSZZ "Solidarność" based on Catholic social teaching and Christian ethics.

2. Intermediation in social issues between the academic community and trade unions, social institutions, and other entities.

3. Promoting respect for human dignity and work.

4. Exploring and strengthening the idea of solidarity in Poland and abroad.

5. Promotion, in Poland and abroad, of research on the history and specificity of NSZZ "Solidarność".

6. Development, in Poland and abroad, of scientific and research activities concerning current problems and challenges related to the current activity of NSZZ "Solidarność".

7. Conducting programs and expert analysis in Poland and abroad on current problems and challenges related to the current activities of NSZZ "Solidarność".

8. Organization, in Poland and abroad, of academic, cultural and social projects aimed at bringing closer and enabling a deeper understanding of the history and current affairs of NSZZ "Solidarność".
